LEHP Report

After discussions with the Governor we decided to try and start a new glaucoma screening program under the umbrella of LEHP. I have had several discussions with Lion Dennis Hirtz from the Woodruff Club in Northern Wisconsin. They have formed a committee to run a glaucoma screening using the Humphrey system device. They have been very successful at local health fairs with upwards of 40% referrals from participant's 50 years of age and older. Dennis has sent me information on the system, which I am reviewing now. I have confirmed that Dennis and his wife Mary Jane will be our guests at our district convention in March to run a breakout session on the screening process. The district will cover their expenses. Prior to the convention, I have scheduled a one-on-one with Dennis and Mary Jane with my wife Lion Becky to get a demonstration of the Humphrey device and to learn the details of how they run a screening. That meeting is set for February 20th. It is then my intention and hope that I can get enough interest at my club, Mt Horeb, and further into the district to begin our own screening program. I would make presentations throughout the clubs in the district to hopefully gain interest and grow the program.

Respectfully Submitted,
Lion Bob Faliveno, LEHP Chair
